Marcus Bokkerink
Senior Advisor
Marcus Bokkerink was Chair of the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) from 2022 to 2025. During his tenure, he re-oriented the authority’s strategy to helping consumers get real choices, helping businesses compete and innovate without being held back by monopolies, and replacing government regulation with market solutions.
He initiated a broad programme of reform of the CMA’s approach in mergers, consumer protection and digital markets; took on significant new powers under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act; and materially strengthened the organisation’s digital capabilities.

Prior to the CMA, Marcus was a Senior Partner and Managing Director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he headed the firm’s UK and European Consumer Practice and Strategy Practice, led a range of global client teams, and developed the firm's China business. He was part of the leadership group which trebled BCG’s business in each of the last two decades, and helped drive the firm’s evolution from boutique strategy partnership to global multiline leader.

Marcus brings 30 years of experience advising Boards and corporate executive teams on strategies to compete, develop competitive advantage over rivals, grow, improve returns, and create value, and advising governments on competition and consumer policy, digital regulation and industrial strategy.

He is currently a Senior Advisor at BCG, Non-Executive Director at an international law firm and director and investor in several start-ups.
